Micron Size

This honeycomb matrix is an original design by Hap Stanley. He makes each one of these stones in his workshop. Hap's resin is much softer than anything else on the market. This allows the surface to be maintained more easily. Typically, diamond resin stones are extremely hard to flatten. Hap has overcome this problem by creating a completely new material. This binder is environmentally friendly, slightly hydrophilic, and very tough. Sharpening can be done completely dry or with a few drops of water. Flattening can be accomplished with our chevron Style lapping plate (NL-4). Remember, when flattening a diamond resin stone, you are not flattening the diamonds in the resin. Rather, you are "Kicking" the diamonds out of the resin. So, you need a very tough lapping plate.

Our 1 micron resin will leave a near mirror polish on the toughest of steels. Watch out  powder metals!! Our 100 micron resin is a thinning machine. All the sizes in between are stepping stones.

Dimensions are 210 mm x 75 mm with 3 layered of diamond resin material.

New favorite

These stones are a game changer. I love the feel of them, they are almost spongy but not so much that you could easily cut into it. Finding a thinning stone that stays flat was difficult until I tried the 100 micron. The surface pattern doesn’t impact sharpening negatively. You barely need any water and it doesn’t get pushed off the stone. They stay flat until you feel the surface needs refreshed. Great customer service. Everything is high quality and I love it

Thank you for you feedback and positive review Josh. As this is a new material, it takes time to really understand it. Your effort is appreciated

Good~~~

Unbelievable grinding power of 1 micron. Perhaps it is thought that the content of diamond is high. This product seems to be more specialized in cutting performance than the mirror finish, and although several diamond products were used, it had the fastest grinding power. If your grinding skills are good, this product will reward you with knife performance.

Thank you so much Hyun. We really appreciate your taking the time to review our micro abrasive
Peace and good sharpening

Hap

My go-to finishing stone!

Summary: Stone leaves a nice crisp edge with "bite"... better than an equivalent strop. Just what I needed for higher end "super" steels. I recommend it!

I've had this stone for about a month now. Here's my opinion:

Best feature: The edge it leaves. Nice and crisp with bite. Better than a comparable strop for most tasks.
2nd best feature: Great for burr removal.
What I like least: Feedback takes getting used to. It sorta feels like your running the stone over a piece of roughened plastic. (But there's an upside, see "unexpected bonus", so not a bad thing).
Other: It will polish, but it's slow to polish if that's your desired result vs. a strop or comparable waterstone. (I prefer the edge type result over polish, so haven't spent much time on this).
Unexpected bonus: The surface texture is similar to a "Washboard Sharpener" although not as textured. But translated... it's a surface that is great for burr removal and the type of edge it leaves... plus the advantage of being diamond.
Unexpected surprise: The surface can be cut on edge leading strokes, so you need to be on your game! (It's doable for same angle strokes, but you can't do high angle edge leading passes).

Would I recommend: Absolutely! It's become my go-to finishing stone for most knives, especially higher end steels. Hoping to see it in other micron sizes!
